Water and You(th)

We are going to organize Youth exchange about Water in the June in Karviná. We will host 24 people from 4 countries - Turkey, Malta, Hungary and Czech republic.

Why did we doing this?

Water is a critical and indispensable resource for all EU countries, playing a fundamental role in sustaining life, ensuring public health, and driving economic activities. From agriculture and industry to domestic consumption and tourism, water is at the core of numerous sectors that contribute significantly to the region's prosperity. It is essential for agricultural irrigation, ensuring food production and security for millions of citizens. Industries heavily rely on water for manufacturing processes, energy generation, and cooling systems, underpinning economic growth and job creation. Moreover, access to clean and safe drinking water is a fundamental human right, and its availability is crucial for public health and well-being.

Adequate water supplies also support the tourism industry, a significant contributor to the EU's economy, as travelers seek destinations with pristine water bodies and picturesque landscapes Beyond the immediate socio-economic benefits, water is vital for preserving and protecting the environment. Healthy aquatic ecosystems sustain biodiversity and ensure ecological balance. Wetlands and rivers act as natural filters, purifying water and mitigating the impacts of pollution.

Moreover, water resources are intricately linked to climate change adaptation and mitigation efforts. EU countries must efficiently manage their water resources, adopting sustainable practices to address potential challenges posed by climate change, such as prolonged droughts or intense rainfall events. By prioritizing water conservation, efficient distribution, and innovative water management strategies, the EU countries can safeguard this invaluable resource for current and future generations, contributing to a resilient, sustainable, and prosperous future.

Here are the objectives of this project:

  • Raise awareness about climate change, the value of water, and their interrelation among participants from four countries.

  • Educate participants about water's significance as a precious natural resource in diplomacy and daily life.

  • Improve participants' water management skills to reduce water wastage.

  • Utilize a social media campaign with short videos to inform a broader audience about the importance of water, climate change-induced hazards, and efficient water management.

  • Foster participants' soft skills and key competences, including teamwork, multicultural communication, and leadership.

  • Cultivate a sense of European Union and identity while dispelling stereotypes about participating nations.

  • Encourage civic participation in sustainability, inclusion, democracy, and climate change.

  • Promote youth participation opportunities under the Erasmus plus scheme.
